Circles of Death

Blue Devil Knight was suggesting new names for my modified circles, but for some time I've been calling them the Circles of Death, so I think I'll stick with that. Thanks anyway, Devil Knight [grin].

Someone wanted to know what redux means: brought back.

Also, a couple of Knights wanted a look at my modified circles. I have ftped a template spreadsheet I am using to a site and you can download it if you want. It's an MS Excel spreadsheet, but you can import it into most any software. I use OpenOffice because I loathe MS. . .

When you look at it, you might gasp because the first two circles doesn't get done for something like 7 months, but remember - I set up my tactical training to take at least one year.

Anyway, before I give you the link, I have to do some legal housework, because you never know who might download this thing. So:

A couple of things:

  • The 14 Day Spaced Repetition doesn't start until Level 30, because by then you are doing so few problems, it's necessary to repeat problems before you lose them.
  • The sheet has the percentages per level. I have defaulted to two repetions per level because you will have already done each problem 4 times when you start the next micro-circle of the level. If you need to repeat a level again, you'll have to work out how to insert another micro-circle.
  • I only gave the schedule through Level 40 for Circle 1 because that's all I have worked out so far. This is published just so the folks who are interested can get an idea of what my modified circles look like. If anyone is still interested later, I'll publish an updated version.
  • I am planning on using Spaced Repetition for Circles 1 and 2. After that, I go back to the de la Maza plan for the remaining circles.
  • I chose the number of problems per day based on my own preferences - you can raise or lower the number of problems depending on how ambitious you are, but remember that eventually you'll be doing 4 repetitons of each daily set, so don't set the number too high.
  • One last thing: This is my schedule. It works for me. It is customized for me using the best learning techniques I could find available. It may not work for you. If you don't like it, feel free to ignore it. I know everyone has there own ideas about how to do the circles and they are all good if they work for you. In my case, it has helped tremendously and each time I do the spaced repetitons, my success rate goes up greatly.

The important thing is that we take the trip. In my opinion, it doesn't matter how or when we get there. . .

Level 10 : 92%
Level 20: 79%
Level 20 Redux: 87%
Level 20 Redux II: 93%
Level 30: 63.58%
Level 30 Redux: 76%

I don't think you are intense enough Jim. I am worried you need to find your motivation, as they say in Hollywood...

;-)

Seriously, though. Thanks a lot for supplying that. I have added a link to this post on my Dante's Discontents list. For the Circle's segment of my training, I am leaning toward something between the Circle's of Death and vanilla MDLM...Very helpful stuff.
